The Greenest Desert

According to research done by mega real estate site Trulia, Phoenix ranks second in the U.S. for green living, making Phoenix the greenest desert in all the land!

Despite a paltry year for Phoenix home builders in 2014, we are still among the leaders in the advancing green home marketplace.  Even better news is that in March 2015, housing starts were up 37 percent in the Phoenix area compared to a year ago.

Green homes are expected to make up as much as 38 percent of the construction market next year across the country.  This great news for buyers who look to decrease their monthly utility bills and work to improve the environment.

Trulia looked at homes offering environmentally friendly amenities and components that ranged from solar energy panels and flow toilets to insulation quality and window efficiency.

St. Louis comes in first followed by Phoenix, Austin, Fort Worth, Denver and Dallas.  Phoenix ranked ahead of some others big U.S. cities on the list. That includes San Jose (7th), San Francisco (8th), Riverside-San Bernardino (9th), Cambridge, Massachusetts (12th), Orange County (13th), Los Angeles (14th), Seattle (16th), San Diego (17th) and Boston (19th).

Existing home sales surged 29 percent as the real estate market looks for improvements after a slow 2014, according to new industry data.

If you are considering selling your home or if your a first time buyer, 2015 is looking like a great year to move forward.
